Regulators okay NIPSCO gas increase

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – It will cost people in northern Indiana more to heat their homes this winter.

On Thursday, the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission approved a natural gas rate hike for NIPSCO customers.

The company says the increase will hike bills 10 percent, or about $6 a month. Though some customers, namely large businesses will pay more.

Regulators say they studied the proposed rate hike for months.

Customers will see their bills increase on September 1st.
