“Unparalleled” rock & roll memorabilia collection up for auction

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (ADAMS) – On Saturday, August 6th at 10 am, a massive rock memorabilia collection, curated and owned by legendary Ft. Wayne radio broadcaster Doc West, will be auctioned at Bartkus Auctioneers – 11595 E. State Rd 205 in Laotto, IN.

Doc West began his Ft. Wayne broadcasting career on WXKE in 1979 and over the ensuing 43 years established a giant collection of guitars, gold and platinum albums, autographed items and radio station memorabilia.

“It’s a once in a lifetime event.” says Doc. “My father told me that I was the collecting-est person he knew in 1960 when I was 9 years old. I guess I always lived up to that statement. I can safely say there will never be another auction quite like this one.”

“I always knew Doc had a big collection, I knew of the storage space he maintains to house it, but seeing it all laid out, over 700 lots in the auction, it’s more than I ever imagined” adds JJ Fabini, program director for 963XKE. “You really have to see it to understand how enormous it truly is.”
