Indiana faith leaders ask lawmakers to fund mental health bill

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – Indiana faith leaders are asking lawmakers to fully fund a bill that would have trained professionals respond when someone has a mental health crisis.

Senate Bill 1 passed the Senate unanimously and is now being considered by a House committee. Clergy are calling on legislators to not only pass the $130 million dollar measure but to pay for it as well.

If passed, the bill would also create mobile crisis counseling units available for around-the-clock responses and would boost the 988 crisis hotline.
