IN Supreme Court won’t hear cases on gender markers on birth certificates

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (ADAMS) – The Indiana Supreme Court will not hear cases about changing a child’s gender on their birth certificates.

Appeals were filed by parents hoping to change the gender marker on their children’s birth certificates.

This comes after the Indiana Court of Appeals ruled judges do not have the authority to change gender markers on birth certificates unless lawmakers change the law.

Two of the five Indiana Supreme Court justices voted in favor of hearing the appeals.
